The Mission Commander, while exercising disciplined initiative, is responsible for aircraft, crew, and airspace safety, as well as the coordination of remote sensing technologies used to collect data and disseminate information in a manner useful to tactical and strategic incident personnel.

All MCI Mission Commanders meet or exceed the following minimum qualifications:
